![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() According to EPA studies, the levels of many air pollutants are 2-5 higher, and occasionally 100 times higher, indoors than out. The sources of indoor pollutants vary: from moisture, to dust, to household cleaning products. Building materials can be and frequently are a part of the problem, exposing occupants to toxins such as formaldehyde, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The same is true for specifications that, for example, do not allow for adequate ventilation or protect against moisture infiltration. At Byggmeister we specify non-toxic materials, products and finishes wherever possible. We incorporate adequate ventilation in order to ensure that contaminants don't build up. We minimize occupant exposure to health hazards during demolition and construction. We do whatever we can to address existing health concerns and to minimize future health risks associated with indoor pollution. « Back to Mission introduction |
