A renovation must do more than improve a home's functionality. It must integrate aesthetically with the existing structure.

Whether the renovation is a redesign of existing space, or calls for the addition of new space, it must work with the lines and the "personality" of the house. For this client, we renovated an existing family room with new bookshelves and built-in cabinetry for the TV, and turned a tired three-season room into an extension of the kitchen and an inviting breakfast/sitting room. We added a second story over the family room, creating a new master bathroom suite including a separate tub and shower, two sinks, a laundry area, and a master closet. The structural lines of the new second floor are so in keeping with the existing structure that the review by the town's historic commission was a mere formality.
