Byggmeister’s 2026 Charitable Giving: Investing in Stronger Communities
July 2026by Rachel White
Byggmeister has committed to donating 5-10% of our annual net profits to local nonprofits each year. Our Charitable Giving Committee, made up of four worker-owners, reviews employee nominations and selects organizations based on three criteria: local impact, the employee's connection to the organization, and alignment with our five priority areas - justice and equity, climate change, affordable housing, systemic racism, and workforce development.
Every recipient is championed by a member of our team. These are causes our employees volunteer for, donate to, or simply care deeply about. This is how we engage the entire company in our charitable giving, not just those who serve on the committee.
This year, we are proud to support five outstanding organizations creating positive change across Greater Boston.
Our 2026 Donation Recipients
Alternatives for Community & Environment
Proposed by Emily
For the fourth consecutive year, we're proud to support Alternatives for Community & Environment (ACE), which has been advancing environmental justice in Massachusetts for more than 25 years.
ACE partners with residents in communities disproportionately affected by environmental racism and economic inequity, helping them advocate for healthier neighborhoods and more just public policies. Through organizing, advocacy, and leadership development, ACE empowers communities to create meaningful and lasting change.
Somerville Community Corporation
Proposed by Emily
Also for the fourth consecutive year, Byggmeister is supporting the Somerville Community Corporation (SCC), an organization dedicated to building a more equitable future through affordable housing, economic mobility, and community empowerment.
SCC works alongside residents to preserve diversity and affordability in Somerville while helping individuals and families access stable housing, workforce opportunities, and financial resources. Their work demonstrates how community-led solutions can create lasting impact and ensure that all residents have the opportunity to thrive.

A Better Chance of Andover expands educational opportunities for academically talented young women of color, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and support they need to become future leaders. Scholars attend Andover High School while living in a residential community that provides academic advising, college counseling, mentorship, and a strong network of volunteers and host families.
By investing in opportunity, equity, and leadership development, A Better Chance of Andover is helping create a future where every young person can reach their full potential, regardless of their background.

The Martin Richard Foundation was established to honor the life and legacy of Martin Richard, whose message "No more hurting people. Peace." continues to inspire communities around the world. The foundation advances inclusion, kindness, justice, and peace by supporting programs that create opportunities for young people, strengthen community connections, and foster a sense of belonging for all.
Through grants, partnerships, and community initiatives, the organization invests in projects that improve access to sports, education, and community spaces while encouraging civic engagement and leadership. Their work serves as a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness and inclusion can have a lasting impact on individuals, families, and communities.

Waltham Fields Community Farm is dedicated to strengthening connections between people, food, and the land. Through sustainable farming, educational programs, and food access initiatives, the farm helps cultivate a healthier, more equitable food system. Their work demonstrates how local agriculture can support environmental stewardship while bringing communities together around shared resources and common goals.
Building Community Beyond the Job Site
At Byggmeister, charitable giving is more than an annual tradition. It is an opportunity to support organizations that reflect our values and strengthen the communities where we live and work.
We're especially grateful to Emily, Meg, Frank, and Josh for sharing the organizations that matter to them and helping guide this year's giving. We are honored to support these five organizations and the important work they do every day.
